Started the construction in 2015 on a total of 288 hectares in Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province, Van Don International Airport is the first airport in Vietnam to come into operation under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model at a cost of VND 7.46 trillion. The airport is designed to be a military airfield level 2 and a grade 4E airport in accordance with ICAO standards.
Van Don International Airport comprises one single runway and one passenger terminal which has a capacity of 2.5 million passengers and 10,000 cargo tons per year in the first phase by 2020. This airport is capable of catering for Airbus A350, A320 and Boeing 787, 777. The 3.6km runway can facilitate the landing of the world’s most advanced aircraft at discounted service fees for all carriers. 2. How to get from Van Don to Halong Bay

The offer is applied for three years, starting from December 30, 2018, and each ticket will be valid for 30 days since passengers’ flights. Tourists can also receive free bus tickets on Halong - Van Don Route, or easily catch a taxi with lower cost as the Van Don Airport now is the nearest to Halong Bay.
