Cua Van Fishing Village
Cua Van fishing village is the extremely famous floating community located between Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay which was once included in the list of 16 most beautiful ancient villages in the world in 2012 by the travel website Journeyetc.com. The fishing village is located in Hung Thang commune, Halong city, about 20km from the Tuan Chau tourist pier. The whole scene is clusters of floating houses in a calm sea, surrounded by majestic limestone mountains. The ancient features, with graceful natural beauty, and typical traditional culture makes Cua Van fishing village an attractive spot for domestic and international tourists.
Nowadays, most villagers have moved to the mainland, Cua Van fishing village consists of only 12 rafts including classrooms, cultural houses and a number of new rafts that meet fishermen's standards. Travelers can visit the Cua Van Floating Cultural Center, a model for fishing communities built in Vietnam to preserve cultural values of fishing villages through traditional activities, as well as interaction between fishermen and tourists. Coming to this center, you will learn and see hundreds of archaeological artifacts, tools, and means of fishing of ancient Vietnamese people, truthful and lively materials about folklore, life of fishermen in Halong Bay since ancient times.
